New Yankee Stadium
Bronx, NY
  Load Reducing Backfill

A portion of the new Yankee Stadium was being built above a subway tunnel that was not engineered to support additional weight.

The solution was to replace 30,000 cubic yards ot top soil (120pcf) with Geofill LD Class II material weighing 29pcf. This allowed the stadium to be built over the subway without adding weight. Geofill LD required no compaction, is re-excavatable and eliminates future settlement.

Coast-to-Coast Pressure Grouting (CCPG) is a nationwide contractor specializing in lightweight cellular concrete. We provide owners, engineers, and contractors with unique, cost effective solutions to their geotechnical and underground construction problems.

CCPG offers complete installation services including technical mix

This new product is very similar to conventional cellular concrete in weight and strength. What makes this material unique is its ability to allow water to freely drain. Geofill LD Pervious has densities ranging from 20 to 30 PCF and strengths of 50 to 200 psi. It is primarily used as a load reducing fill where drainage is needed.
